5 Things to Know Today in Point Boro, Point Beach

Small businesses can listen to free webinar Thurs. to learn about health care act

The federal Small Business Administration (SBA) will start a free webinar series on Thursday to help small business owners understand how the Affordable Care Act will affect their businesses and employees.

"This free webinar series will help you understand key pieces of the law and what you should know about tax credits, cost containment and more," says the SBA website. "Join us and get the facts you need to know."

On a lighter note, there will be a Psychic Event from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Point Beach branch of the Ocean County library to raise money for the Point Pleasant Beach Library Association, which maintains the library building. "Reserve your time now and bring a friend – refreshments will be served," says the flier (see attached PDF).

At 2:30 p.m. Thursday, there will be a Community Blood Drive at Hoffman's Ice Cream, 800 Richmond Ave. (Route 35 South), Point Beach. Every donor will receive an ice cream coupon. For more information, see the Patch event listing.

In Point Borough, another free concert is scheduled for Thursday night at Riverfront Park, River Road and Maxson Avenue, Point Borough. The event will begin at 4 p.m. with food, beer and wine and the live music is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Marc Ribler and Friends will perform "a night of classic soul Featuring JT Bowen - Lead singer from Clarence Clemons and Red Bank Rockers."
