Catherine Patterson Of Point Pleasant Dies at 81.

Services are slated for Friday and Saturday.

Catherine Patterson passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in Point Pleasant after battling Parkinson's for some 15 years. She was 81.

Born Catherine "Sissy" Bradley on December 29, 1935, in Newark she was a longtime resident of Avenel.

Catherine was a bookkeeper and accountant for Sumitomo Corp., USA in New York City for more than 30 years, juggling her career and family as a single mother of four boys. After her retirement, she became the face of What's the Scoop, a family owned ice cream parlor in Metuchen. Catherine, a devoted daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, whose love and dedication to her family, will be sorely missed. Her quiet, steadfast leadership was a gift to us all.

Sissy was predeceased by her mother, Sarah VanBeek Bradley; father, Thomas Bradley; sister, AnneMarie Bradley; and granddaughter, Ryan Marie Patterson.

Surviving are her sister, Virginia Gardner; brother, Thomas Bradley, Jr.; sons, Thad, Michael, Daniel and William; along with daughters Michele, Marie, Kimberly and Debbie; grandchildren, Colleen, Danielle, Jason, Liam, Cassidy and Brendan; and countless nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m on Jan. 6 at the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel St., Avenel . Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at Hazelwood Cemetery in Rahway. at Hazelwood Cemetery in Rahway. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Catherine's granddaughter's scholarship fund: Ryan Patterson Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Metuchen YMCA 65 High St., Metuchen, NJ 08840.
