Chris Goss Withdrawing from Point Boro Council Race
Political newcomer Suzann Cole will run as second Democratic candidate

Democrat Chris Goss is withdrawing from running for reelection to the Point Borough Council seat he won three years ago.
Political newcomer Suzann Cole will instead run with newcomer Desiree Land on the Democratic ticket against Republicans Bob Sabosik, council president, and newcomer Joe Furmato Jr., said Democratic Councilman Chris Leitner on Tuesday night.
Goss announced at Tuesday night's Borough Council meeting that he has decided to withdraw from running in the Nov. 5 general election for one of two, three-year council seats because of the time demands of his job and family life.
"I'm disappointed to stay away when there's a lot of important work to be done," Goss said. However, he added, he would be a lot more disappointed to stay on council but then not have enough time to devote to his public duties.
"It's been an interesting three years to say the least," Goss said, adding he's grateful he's had the opportunity to serve on council.
The council currently has a narrow Republican majority. Goss, Council member Chris Leitner and Mayor William Schroeder are the only Democrats on the seven-member governing body and the mayor only votes when there is a tie.
