Mary Theresa Tilton, Educator, Dies At 74

Services for Point Pleasant resident will be held on Friday and Saturday

Mary Theresa Tilton of Point Pleasant passed away on January 1, 2017.

Mary was born in South Amboy on October 18, 1942. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and continued on to receive a bachelors degree from Glassboro State College, and a masters degree from Trenton State College.

Mary married Edmund Tilton on February 12, 1977. They were married for 39 years. Mary worked as a mathematics teacher at Raritan High School for 36 years and as an adjunct professor at Brookdale Community College after retiring from Raritan.

She enjoyed her life by the beach and any chance to visit new places. Some of her favorite activities were skiing, tennis, biking, reading, game nights with her girlfriends, and lounging at the beach in Bay Head with her friends, husband and son.

She was also actively involved in volunteering for the Providence House.

Mary is survived by her husband Edmund, her son Timothy, her brother Stanley Paczkowski, her sister Annette Day, many nieces, nephews, and a bounty of other family and friends. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 at St. Peter's Church, Foreman Ave, Point Pleasant Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Providence House or the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org.
