Point Boro Residents Can Donate Christmas Trees For A Good Cause
Public Works will pick up used trees for the Slade Dale Sanctuary

POINT PLEASANT, NJ - Want to put your used Christmas tree to good use?
Then donate it to the Slade Dale Natural Sanctuary off Dorsett Dock Road to help protect its living shoreline project.
Point Pleasant Public Works will pick up your tree at curbside during regular tree curbside pickup in January. But if you want it to go to the Sanctuary, please notify the Township Administrator's office at 732-892-3434.

The sanctuary is home to an active osprey tower and is a breeding ground for fish, birds and other wildlife. It's named after the late F. Slade Dale, a Bay Head boat builder and yachtsman who pioneered the use of outboard motors, according to a New York Times article.
In 1925 when outboard motors were considered little more than toys, he sailed a Barnegat Bay sneak box powered by an outboard motor from New York to Florida, according to the article.
