Point Pleasant Beach Police Charge Borough Man With Creating a False Public Alarm

Point Pleasant Beach, NJ - A borough man has been charged with creating a false public alarm after he called police, told them he was armed with a weapon and didn't want to speak to police, according to app.com.
Officers arrived at the 600 block of Atlantic Avenue at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16 to conduct a welfare check. When the man, Robert Faucher, Jr. told them he did not want to speak with police, officers backed out of the residence and secured the scene and evacuated nearby homes.
Point Pleasant police, Ocean County Sheriff's officers and officers with one of the Ocean County Regional SWAT Teams responded, as did borough medics, said Detective Clint Daniel, a spokesman for borough police.

Eventually, police convinced Faucher to surrender, Daniel said. Police charged him with second-degree creating false public alarm and sent him to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood for medical treatment, Daniel said.
Emergency responders cleared the scene by 3 p.m., police said.
