Point Pleasant Boro Discussing 'Learning Options' For Fall
Point Pleasant Boro has been anxiously awaiting word from the state as to how schools will be handled in the fall.

POINT PLEASANT BORO – The Point Pleasant Boro School District has been anxiously awaiting word from the state as to how schools will be handled in the fall.
While that guidance is supposed to be released this week, Point Boro "has had and will continue to have discussions on a variety of learning options," Superintendent Vincent Smith wrote in a letter to the district.
"While addressing all of the possibilities, we must consider the health and safety guidelines placed upon us," Smith said. "This will play a key role in determining how school will open."

Smith said there is a tremendous amount of hard work ahead during the summer months, "but I am extremely confident our talented group of educators will be well prepared for September."
"We have together, as a school community, endured many challenges presented by COVID-19. None of this has been easy and all of us have had to change the way we live our daily lives," he said.

"As I have said, this situation was not ideal and I realize how frustrating it was at times," he said.
Many people have been asking about the opening of school in September, Smith said. "Unfortunately, that question cannot be answered at this time," he said.
"In closing, I realize our students lost the opportunity to experience the many fond memories associated with the end of the school year. Not only our senior Class of 2020, but all our students at each grade level," he said.
"I hope everyone is able to take the summer months to rest, relax and spend time with your families. As always, I will continue to communicate and share with you any and all pertinent information regarding the opening of school in September."
