Point Pleasant Boro school nurses have announced the criteria you'll have to follow to get your kids back into the school buildings in September.

"We are eager to reconnect with your child. We are committed to provide not only the best medical care but the safest medical care," said Deborah Ewtushek, the Memorial Middle School nurse.

Here's what they said:

  • Prior to sending child to school, parents will be required to complete a short questionnaire regarding your child's symptoms and exposure to coronavirus. Parents need to "consistently and accurately" reflect each child's household health, said Jill Lebret, the nurse at Nellie F. Bennett Elementary School.
  • If your child displays any symptoms or had any exposure to COVID-19, you will be required to keep your child home from school.
  • All students, teachers and staff must wear masks, and wear them so they go behind the ear. Everyone needs to pinch the mask on your nose, and and make sure it goes below the chin.
  • Plastic shields are not acceptable unless you're wearing another mask over your nose and mouth at the same time, said Cindi Barry, nurse at Point Pleasant Boro High School.
  • Each student and staff member will be subject to a temperature check. A staffer will use a thermal scan thermometer to check.
  • Parents should practice social distancing and wearing masks with their children, for short periods of time, at home.
  • Make sure to wash your hands front and back, and between the fingers, while at school.
  • When a child goes to the nurse's office, the nurses will check their temperatures and symptoms.
  • If a child is displaying symptoms of the coronavirus, they will be sent home for 10 days, or until they have clearance from their private doctor.
  • Emergency cards must be completed in full and contain at least one contact who can arrive at school within 20 minutes.
