Alexander Road is Now Open

Partial lane closures will continue throughout the next month until the project is completed.

Alexander Road is now open through the "S" curve and into Princeton, following a month-long detour that caused extensive traffic delays coming into town from Route 1. 

West Windsor Township reports that Lucas Construction Group has completed base paving and temporary striping and the road is now open to two lanes of traffic. 

The remaining construction schedule is as follows:

  • Final paving will occur during several nights in late July early August. Once the dates for the work have been finalized, the public will be notified. 
  • During night work the road will be closed to traffic and the full detour put into effect .
  • Intermittent shoulder closures and/or alternating lane closures will occur until and the project is complete.  
  • Alternating lane closures, when required, will occur from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
  • Designated bike lanes and signs will be installed after final paving. 
  • The sidewalk is open. 

Residents are reminded that the area remains a construction zone and drivers should stay alert and honor posted traffic control signs.
