Bad Parking Job? This Site Will Call You Out

You may want to pay attention to where and how you park or a new Facebook page, “You Park Stupid,” might just call you out.

The page was started by Somerville resident John Flores, who became ticked off when he kept seeing the same bad parking job while visiting his father in the hospital in Livingston.

Flores launched the Facebook page in April, mostly just for his friends and family.

Since then, he’s called out drivers around New Jersey including Princeton, when he caught up with an old friend in town.

“I couldn’t believe how easy it was to find poorly parked cars on Nassau Street,” Flores said. “It was literally five minutes within 100 yards of each other.”

The photos on the 'Princeton, NJ Parallel Parking Edition' features photos of the offending parking jobs along with comments like “Nice parking Einstein” and “Oh Brother How Stupid Art Thou.”

But underneath the sarcasm, there’s a serious message, Flores said.

“I’ve realized two things,” he said. “One, I’ve hit a nerve because we grew to 1,600 fans in about a week and two, this is one of those things that no one is really doing anything about in a way. This has almost become a public service announcement, just to get people to be a little more conscientious about how they park and how it affects others."
