Children's Book Author Inspires Students at Princeton Academy
Susan Stockdale told students it's never too early to be authors and illustrators.
Â
Susan Stockdale, an award winning author and illustrator of children’s books, visited Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart on Wednesday, April 3. The date coincided with the publication of her newest book, "Stripes of All Types." Â
Stockdale, inspired by research as well as her own life experience growing up in Florida, creates colorful, vivid picture books about animals and their habitats.  Her passion for her work came through easily as she shared her experience of researching, writing and illustrating Stripes of All Types using an equally lively, inspiring manner with the students.  In her latest book, she brings to life a patterned parade of animals, showing young readers some of the many reasons stripes are found so often in nature. In addition, fifth-grader Andrew Tokarski of Princeton was the acting Librarian for the Day.Â
Before leaving, Stockdale left the boys with an encouraging thought about life, that they can all be writers and illustrators now, that they should not wait until they grow up, because they all have ideas and interests. They just need to be written down.Â
