This Community Leader Fights Food Insecurity In Princeton
Liliana Morenilla serves those who are food insecure through Princeton Mobile Food Pantry.

PRINCETON, NJ — Without community leaders, Princeton wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.
Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.
This submission comes from Jennifer Lea Cohan, a Princeton reader who nominated Liliana Morenilla.

What does this community leader do?
As the Founder of Princeton Mobile Food Pantry (founded in 2010), Liliana Morenilla has an encyclopedic knowledge of the families served by the Pantry. Her relationships are built upon mutual respect and empathy.
Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?
After recognizing food insecurity among the children she worked with in Princeton Public Schools, Liliana quietly founded the Princeton Mobile Food Pantry in 2010 out of her own purse - filling it with healthy snacks. It then grew into her car trunk, and eventually out of buildings - currently at the Princeton Shopping Center. She did this by working with friends, partners, and eventually sponsors. Her ability to build coalitions and raise awareness of food insecurity in Princeton is most admirable.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?
Mutual respect and empathy are at the heart of Liliana's relationships with the Princeton neighbors receiving biweekly deliveries of fresh groceries from the Princeton Mobile Food Pantry.
