DEP Issues Air Quality Alert

Air pollution may be at unhealthy levels for certain groups today.

The Department of Environmental Protection Agency has issued an air quality alert for the area.

According to the alert, air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

According the DEP, the Are Quality Index is orange, or unhealthy. For more information, visit www.airnow.gov.
