Fire Ban In Effect In Princeton, Amid NJ Drought Watch

No wood or charcoal fires or fireworks celebrations will be allowed until further notice.

PRINCETON, NJ - The Municipality has been placed under a fire ban, amid a drought watch in New Jersey.

This was done in response to prolonged dry conditions and increased wildfire activity.

This means all fires on public lands and private properties in New Jersey are prohibited until further notice from the NJDEP.

No outdoor fires - wood or charcoal - or fireworks celebrations will be allowed until further notice.

The Garden State is currently under Stage 3 fire restriction which prohibits all fires unless they are contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas or electricity.

“We are currently experiencing some of the driest conditions ever, making our forests, in particular the sprawling Pinelands region of southern New Jersey, especially vulnerable to wildfires that could spread very quickly and threaten property,” NJ DEP Commissioner LaTourette said.

“It is critical that members of the public be extra cautious about fire prevention and refrain from using any open flames.”
