Theft Of Identity, Reckless Driving: Princeton Police Blotter

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:

PRINCETON, NJ — On April 22, at 11:43 a.m., following a motor vehicle stop for speeding on Elm Road, the driver, A Hamilton resident, was discovered to have two active ATS warrants out of Trenton Municipal Court, each with a bail amount of $1,250 with a 10 percent option. The 31-year-old was arrested and taken to headquarters, where he was later released on his own recognizance after posting bail. He was given a new court date, and before his release, he received summonses for speeding and driving while suspended.

On April 23, 5:41 p.m., a woman reported that an unknown individual keyed the driver's side door and fender of her vehicle while she was at work. The incident is believed to have occurred on April 23, between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The estimated cost to repair the scratch is under $500. There are currently no suspects in this case.

On April 24, patrol officers responded to a bank on Nassau Street after receiving a report about a black man attempting to cash a fraudulent check. During the on-scene investigation, the suspect, a resident of Greensboro, NC was arrested and taken to headquarters for processing. At headquarters, the 38-year-old was charged with several offenses, including theft of identity, forgery, hindering apprehension, knowingly using a false government-issued driver’s license, possession of a false government-issued ID, and issuing bad checks. He was informed of his charges before being released from police custody.

On April 27, at 4:15 a.m., following a motor vehicle stop for improper parking and failure to keep right, the driver, a Princeton resident, was found to be driving while intoxicated. The 33-year-old was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing. After completing the arrest process, he received summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, and prohibited parking. He was subsequently released to a sober adult.

April 28, 3:58 a.m., following to a motor vehicle stop for obstructing the passage of other vehicles on Nassau Street, the driver, a Rahway resident, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. The 41-year-old was transported to police headquarters where he submitted samples of his breath for testing. He was processed, charged accordingly, and subsequently released to his friend after being issued motor vehicle summonses and given a court date.

On April 29, 7:32 p.m., officers responded to a business on State Road following a report of a white female wearing gray sweatpants, fuzzy slippers, and a black shirt who was allegedly stealing items from the store. Upon investigation, it was determined that the woman, a resident of Martinsville NJ, was taking various miscellaneous items without paying for them and placing them in her bags. The 35-year-old was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing, and she was later transported to the Mercer County Correctional Center.
