Here Are The Winners Of The 2024 Princeton Vegan Chef Challenge

The dining public decided on the winners after sampling their vegan dishes.

PRINCETON, NJ — The second annual Princeton Vegan Chef Challenge has officially wrapped up.

From Oct. 1 to 31, local chefs rustled up creative and delicious plant-based menu options. And the dining public had to decide who was the winner.

  • 1st Place - Best Dinner & Best Appetizer: Mediterra Restaurant & Taverna
  • 2nd Place - Most Popular & Best Soup: Lady and the Shallot
  • 3rd Place - Super Voter Favorite & Best Dessert (Tie): Pastiamo Pasta Bar & Cafe
  • Best Comfort Food: Savory Leaf Cafe
  • Best Dessert (Tie): The Mint
  • Best Sandwich & Best Breakfast Item: Tipple + Rose
  • Best Value: Whole Earth Center
  • Best Veggie Dish: Ficus
  • Best Wrap: Arlee’s Raw Blends
  • Most Creative Flavors: Amazing Thai

On Monday, chefs were presented awards at a private ceremony held at Pastiamo Pasta Bar & Cafe.

Various community members and local foodies voted for the participating chefs and dishes. Voters were vegan, vegetarian, and meat-eaters. Their dining support enabled us to honor some wonderful local chefs!

“If a group of friends is planning a dinner out on the town, and one of them is vegan, the entire group will skip a restaurant without good vegan options,” former chef Alex Bury said.

The event is hosted by Vegan Outreach, NJveg and Vegan in NJ. Their aim is to educate the public on the benefits of a plant-based diet and support people in whatever way they can.
