Mercer County's Athing Mu Wins Second Olympic Gold Medal
The Trenton sensation ran the fastest split of the group during the 4x400-meter women's team relay.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Mercer County's "Golden Girl" Athing Mu won her second Olympic gold medal in the 4x400-meter women’s team relay at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.
Mu followed her Tuesday gold in the 800m by anchoring the Team USA's 4x400 relay to a win with a time of 3:16.85.
The Trenton teen completed the race alongside Allyson Felix, Dalilah Muhammad, and Sydney McLaughlin from Union County. Mu ran the fastest split of the group at 48.32. You can watch the race here.

Gov. Phil Murphy congratulated Mu and McLaughlin in a Facebook post. "Still in awe of New Jersey’s own Athing Mu and Sydney McLaughlin, bringing home gold AGAIN in the women’s 4x400m relay. Can’t stop Jersey," Murphy posted on Facebook.
On Aug. 3, Mu became the first American woman to win the 800-meter race since Madeline Manning’s win during the 1968 Mexico City Games.
