Over 317 Students Get School Supplies From Princeton Human Services

The expanded drive provided essential school supplies to students from Pre-K through 8th grade.

PRINCETON, NJ - Princeton Human Services recently concluded this year's Backpack and School Supply Drive. And the initiative was met with overwhelming generosity from the Princeton community.

This year, the drive expanded its reach, providing essential school supplies from Pre-K through 8th grade, ensuring that over 317 Princeton children are prepared to start the new school year.

Additionally, extra backpacks and supplies were distributed to students in need throughout the greater Mercer County area.

“For the past 14 years, this initiative has united local businesses, organizations, residents, municipal employees, and Princeton University to provide essential support for the children in our community,” Human Services Director Rhodalynn Jones said.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Mark Freda, the Princeton Council, municipal employees, and the many Princeton residents who contributed to this effort. We are also especially grateful to Princeton University, W.B. Mason, Whiting-Turner Contract Company, Stone Hill Church, Mt. Pisgah AME Church, CytoSorbents, and the Princeton PBA Local #130 for their continued support and generous donations.”

Mayor Freda also expressed his gratitude to the community and donors for their generosity.

“This effort exemplifies the strong sense of community that makes Princeton so special. For over a decade, Princeton Human Services has coordinated this drive, and its continued success is a testament to the unwavering support of our donors, volunteers, and our dedicated staff, including Rhodalynn Jones, Sindy Sandoval, Kimberly Figueroa-Martinez, Lailiana Azcuidiaz, the Summer Youth Employment Program staff, Brian Donis, Madison Hamlin, Judith Pwee, and Jihad Wilder,” Freda said.

The Backpack and School Supply Drive will be back again next year, officials confirmed.
