Lane Change Ordinance To 'Correct Confusing Situation' In Princeton
Comments from the public about the intersection prompted the amendment to the ordinance.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton is looking to correct a confusing situation at one of its intersections.
At the Dec. 22 Council meeting, the Council unanimously approved an ordinance to redesignate a lane at the intersection of Harrison Street North and Terune Road.
"This amendment is a minor change to correct a confusing situation that drivers have encountered southbound on North Harrison when they reach Terune Road," said Councilman David Cohen.

"It used to be you could go straight from two lanes, but now if you go straight from one of those lanes, you end up in the bike lane. The turn indications on the roadway will be changed to clarify that. And I think it's a response really from the comments from the public. An excellent amendment," said Cohen.
According to the ordinance, at the intersection of Terhune Road, traveling in a northerly direction, the left lane will be for left turns only; the middle lane for straight ahead only; and right lane for right turns and straightahead only.

Buffered bicycle lanes were installed this past fall on North Harrison Street between Clearview Avenue and Terhune Road under a pilot project approved by Council.
