PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart will not be closing after all.
Back in October last year, the private K-8 school for boys, announced it will be closing at the end of the 2023-24 academic year.
But on Thursday, the school announced it has overcome its “financial adversity” thanks to the generosity of the community.

School officials said that their announcement of closing down was met with “unwavering support of devoted parents, heartfelt dedication of faculty and staff, steadfast commitment of the community, and the generosity of donors.”
The school has put in place a conservative financial plan for the coming academic years to provide stability without compromising the school’s mission or programmatic offerings.

"This success affirms that Princeton Academy fulfills the important community need for an enriched educational experience tailored to the specific, unique development of boys,” school officials said in a media statement.
In October last year, officials said the school had entered into a “letter of intent” with the Aldenham Education group, for a potential acquisition, as it was facing continued financial challenges.
The acquisition by one of the oldest schools in England would allow the academy to remain open but under a new name and banner.
But thanks to community support the school will retain its independence.
"The outpouring of support from our community has been overwhelming. It is a testament to our shared dedication to provide a transformative education deeply rooted in the values of the Sacred Heart tradition,” Olen Kalkus, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Founding Head of School said.
The school will be hosting Open Houses on Jan. 21 and 26 for prospective students and families.
The school opened in 1999 with 34 students in Grades K-3 and 14. In 2008, Princeton Academy was formally admitted into the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.
The school is located 3 miles from downtown Princeton on a 50-acre campus, that was formerly home to the Marianite Sisters of the Holy Cross.
