Princeton Celebrates 2024 MLK Day: Call To Service, Multifaith Service
In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all Municipal offices will be closed.
PRINCETON, NJ - Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and people across the country will be celebrating his life and legacy.
There are an array of events happening in the Princeton area to honor the civil rights leader.
- The Coalition of Peace will be hosting the annual Multifaith Service to honor the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday. The Service co-sponsored by CFPA and the Princeton Clergy Association, will be at Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street. There is no parking available at the church. Paid parking garages on Chambers, Spring, and Hulfish Streets, and on-street meter parking are closest. In-person attendees are urged to wear masks. Carla Jones Brown, pastor of the Arch Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA, will be preaching this year.
- MLK Day Of Service Monday, January 15, 10 a.m. 3 p.m., Friends Of Princeton Open Space. Join FOPOS for a volunteer session on MLK Day. Volunteers will work with FOPOS’s stewardship team to advance timely forest and riparian restoration projects at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton.
- MLK Day of Service and Gallery exhibit, West Windsor Arts Council. The West Windsor Arts and the African American Parent Support Group have joined together to partner with local agencies to provide much-needed assistance to the people they serve. West Windsor Arts is kicking off this special programming with the opening reception of “Manifesting Beloved Community,” an art exhibition inspired by Dr. King’s vision for a healed world. The Day of Service will be held 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The display will be held through March 2. For details click here.
Municipal Office Closed, Garbage Collection

Since Monday a federal holiday, the Municipal Offices will be closed. However, garbage and recycling will be collected as scheduled.
