Princeton Community Dog Park Opens To Four-Legged Residents
Princeton pooches, rejoice: the Princeton Community Dog Park is officially open.
PRINCETON, NJ - Princeton pooches, rejoice: the municipality’s first official community dog park is finally here.
Located in the southwest corner of Community Park South, the Princeton Community Dog Park offers an open space for dogs to run through the converted baseball field. A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Sunday.
The first of its kind in Princeton, the dog park’s opening marks the first permanent dedicated dog park in the municipality, per the Princeton Packet.

The park was established as part of a community collaboration between the Princeton Town Council, Princeton Animal Control and the Princeton Dog Park Alliance, a group of local dog owners with the goal of creating more open spaces for dogs in the area.

Per PrincetonOnline, the dog park is open from dawn to dusk. Dogs must be licensed and up to date on rabies vaccinations with licenses displayed on collars or harnesses. Aggressive dogs, chew toys, female dogs in heat and puppies younger than four months are prohibited.
No more than three dogs are permitted per adult user, PrincetonOnline added, and dogs must be on-leash until inside the first gate of the entrance to the dog park.
Princeton previously established a 90-day trial off-leash dog program at Quarry Park late last year, which was extended again in January.
“During the 90-day pilot program, Municipal staff received no reports of safety incidents or issues caused by off-leash dogs at Quarry Park,” Deputy Administrator/Municipal Engineer, Deanna Stockton said in a memo.”With this success, municipal staff have prepared a resolution to continue the off-leash program as a privilege for the community.” Read more: Princeton To Continue Off-Leash Dog Program At Quarry Park
Another dog park is being planned near the Princeton Shopping Center as part of a new housing development, the Princeton Dog Park Alliance said.
