Princeton Public Schools To Get New Science Program Supervisor
Joy Barnes-Johnson has submitted her resignation effective Dec. 31.

PRINCETON, NJ – Princeton Public School’s Supervisor of Science had submitted her resignation and the Board of Education has made a new appointment.
Joy Barnes-Johnson has submitted her resignation which is effective Dec. 31, according to the agenda for the Oct. 29 meeting.
Barnes-Johnson has taught science at Princeton High School since 2007. In 2022 she was named science supervisor.

Jill Sacks is expected to replace Barnes-Johnson in the interim.
Jacqueline Katz will be appointed Supervisor of Science effective Jan. 1.

During the meeting, Kimberly Tew. Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, called Barnes-Johnson a “beacon of inspiration and dedication.”
“A skilled chemist Joy embodies the spirit of lifelong learning. She consistently models the importance of inquiry and curiosity encouraging both students and colleagues to explore the wonders of science,” Tew said, noting the district will miss Barnes-Johnson.
Board president Safna Kendal noted that Barnes-Johnson co-created the school district’s racial literacy program at the high school.
“Our debt to Dr. Barnes-Johnson is deep and we wish her all the best,” Kendal said, while welcoming Katz to the new role.
