Princeton University Opens Dinky Station Today, Will Hold 10:30 a.m. Reception
Opening the north station is one of the benefits residents will receive with the Dinky relocation.

Beginning today, Nov. 1, riders of the “Dinky” train will have access to the north station in Princeton Borough for five hours a day each weekday from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Borough Mayor Mildred Trotman, Township Mayor Chad Goerner and Princeton University Vice President and Secretary Robert Durkee will hold a reception at the station this morning at 10:30.
Princeton University will open and operate the Dinky station under the terms of the memorandum of understanding approved by Princeton Borough Council on Oct. 4 and by Princeton Township Committee on Oct. 24.

Dinky patrons will be able to use the restrooms and waiting room between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. when the university operates the station.
The memorandum of understanding has been a hotly-contested issue between the two municipalities and the University because it offers benefits in exchange in exchange for the university moving the Dinky station 460 feet south of its current location.

Residents and officials alike have been vocal in their opposition to the Dinky move, but officials said they did not feel they had a cost-effective or viable way to prevent the move.
The University claims it has the right to move the station under a 1984 agreement with New Jersey Transit.
Four residents recently filed a lawsuit to block the Dinky move.
