Princeton Weekend Guide: June 7-9

Highlights include free circus performances, Pink Dragon Boat Festival and a fundraiser to help needy Princeton schoolchildren combat hunger.

 

Friday

A discussion: "Social Media and The Law." Attorney Robert Morris will offer tips on drafting a social media policy to address employee expectations and protect business confidentiality. TigerLabs on Nassau Street, 9 a.m. 

A panel of eight authors talk about their latest works and what they have on their summer-reading lists. Book signing to follow. Princeton Public Library, Community Room, 6:30 pm.

Art + 10 Group Exhibition - "Away We Go" opening reception at Small World Coffee. The collection reflects the lazy days of summer, including landscapes, photographs, seaside views and still life, 7-9 p.m. 

. Enjoy dancing, games and refreshments to help SAVE with their new $3 million capital campaign for a new shelter in Montgomery Township. All proceeds go to the shelter, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday

 

Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Festival at Mercer County Park, West Windsor to benefit Breast Cancer Resource Center at the YWCA Princeton, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Join fellow knitters during "Worldwide Knit in Public Day." Bring your knitting and crocheting or learn to knit with representatives from Pins and Needles. Author Adrienne Martini will join the knitters and read from her book “Sweater Quest: My Year of Knitting Dangerously.” Please bring a chair. Hinds Plaza (weather permitting) or Princeton Public Library's community room, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Amelia Bedelia turns 50 this year and author Herman Parish helps celebrate the fictional character. Hehas created a new Amelia Bedelia series featuring our favorite girl as child and will debut his new book Amelia Bedelia's First Library Card. Princeton Public Library's third floor story room, 1 p.m. 

Enjoy a southern style BBQ and a chance to win Super bowl XLVIII tickets- all proceeds support local charity Derek's Dreams. To purchase tickets for the event or raffle, click here. At the home of Carol and Andy Golden (directions with ticket purchase), 3-6 p.m.

Sunday

Princeton Kids Marathon at Palmer Stadium, Princeton University. Run the 1.2 miles, followed by family activities, 9:30 a.m. Adult 10K race begins at 8 a.m.  

LASHIR sings only in Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino, the language of the Jews of Spain, 2 p.m. 

A piano and cello student concert, featuring advanced and intermediate piano and cello students ages 6-17. Princeton Public Library, Community Room, 2 p.m. 

The American Boychoir Graduation Concert at Princeton University Chapel. Includes a full performance by both the Concert Choir and Training Choir and is free and open to the public, 3 p.m. 

Send Hunger Packing fundraising event at the Garden Theatre for a showing ofthe critically-acclaimed film “A Place at the Table." A panel discussion will follow. Send Hunger Packing aims to raise $31,000 annually to feed hungry children in Princeton Schools. To purchase tickets or to donate, click here, 4 p.m.
