McCarter Theatre presents "Into the Woods." Revisit this beloved musical in a new production. The forests are not always what they seem in Sondheim’s play. Weaving everyone’s favorite fairy tales together, this delightful and witty musical asks: what happens after happily ever after? 8 p.m.
Saturday
"Challenges to U.S. Policy in the Middle East"– 2013 Princeton Colloquium on Public and International Affairs. Keynote address by William J. Burns, Deputy Secretary of State, followed by panel discussions on “Strategic Relationships” and “The Arab Awakening.” The afternoon session will feature a keynote address by Ryan C. Crocker MCF ’85, U.S. Foreign Service Career Ambassador, followed by panel discussions on “Iran” and “Israeli-Palestinian Relations.” Robertson Hall, Princeton University, 8:45 a.m.
Offerings include local produce, grass-fed beef, poultry, eggs, cheese, wool and alpaca products, ketchup, BBQ sauce, bakery items, soaps, orchids, wine, fresh juices and crepes. Also featuring live music, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.
Keynote speaker David Crane, CEO of NRG, will discuss environmental and economic sustainability, and closing speaker Heidi Cullen, Chief Climatologist of Climate Central, will discuss climate change and the weather. Three workshops will focus on sustainable food: “Running a Sustainable Organic Farm” with the owners/operators of Double Brook Farm in Hopewell, “Wild Edibles” with nationally recognized forager Tama Matsuok Wong, and “School Gardens, Bees, and Chickens” with PDS Garden Coordinator Pam Flory and science teacher Aaron Schomberg. 9:15 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Morven in May: A Celebration of Art, Craft and Garden. Along with an array of beautifully crafted art objects, Morven will offer for sale a distinct collection of heirloom perennials and unique annuals ready to plant in your spring garden, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guest speaker Wendy Hollender will speak at 2 p.m.
Kite Day at Terhune Orchards. Fly a kite in the 10-acre pasture, tour the orchards on a tractor-drawn farm wagon, play old-fashioned games, visit the animals, and enjoy country food and music. Rain or shine, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
5th Annual PrincetonKIDS Family Fun Day at the Quaker Bridge Mall, featuring live entertainment at the Mall’s newly renovated Center Court, plus face painting, glitter tattoos, mascots, giveaways, and tons of crafts and children’s activities at family friendly vendor tables, 11 a.m.
5th Annual Small Business Fair at the Princeton Public Library. Learn, connect and network with a variety of small business oriented exhibitors, other small business owners, knowledgeable library research staff and experienced SCORE business counselors. Mini-seminars will include Starting a Home-based Business, Financial Accounting Tips & Tools, Secrets to Funding Your Business, and Intro to Social Media Marketing. Register here. 11 am to 3 p.m.
Dress in your finest and wear your garden party hat!! We will be serving afternoon tea, including tea sandwiches, cake and homemade scones presented on fine china with tables dressed in vintage linens. There will also be a silent auction, 3 p.m.
The New Jersey Gay Men's Chorus presents a concert, 'Reflections of Mom: Woman of Wonder,' including a nine-piece orchestra. Unitarian Universalist Congregations, 8 p.m.
