Theft by Deception, Burglary: Princeton Police Blotter
The Princeton Police blotter dated July 16 and 23 had the following reports:

PRINCETON, NJ — On July 8, a black man wearing a white t-shirt, green baseball-style hat, and dark pants shoplifted two bottles of alcohol from a retail establishment on North Harrison Street. Subsequent investigation identified the suspect to be a 54-year-old from Trenton. He was subsequently charged with Shoplifting and Defiant Trespass.
On July 12, a man reported that an unknown actor stole his wallet which contained $150 in cash and several credit cards on July 11, from an establishment on Hulfish Street. The man further reported that he later noticed unauthorized charges of $3,284 and $232.44 to his credit cards which totaled $3,666.44. The suspect is described as a heavyset white male, a salt/pepper beard, wearing a black bucket hat, white long-sleeve t-shirt, black pants, sunglasses, and a Nike backpack.
On July 15, a man reported that a personal check of his was stolen from his mailbox, forged, and deposited into an account unknown to him. The man related that his check was altered from $470.10 to $2,470.10 and appears payable to an “Akeel Simon”. The man suffered a monetary loss of $2,470.10 as a result of this incident.

On July 15, a man told police that an unknown actor(s) entered his home and disturbed several items while inside. He said that he observed open doors, a broken window shade, and debris on the bathroom window sill which were all altered sometime following his exit from his residence.
On July 15, at 10:11 a.m., a woman reported the theft of her vehicle’s driver’s side headlight while it was parked on George Drive sometime between July 14 and July 15. The victim reported observing a suspicious white van being operated by a white male traveling through the neighborhood the week leading up to the theft.

On July 19, it was reported that the victim was told that they had won a prize and in order to claim the prize, they would need to provide payment for several processing documents. In total, the victim provided the unknown suspect with $334,000 via online transfers. The Detective Bureau is investigating.
On July 19, it was reported that several construction tools were stolen from a residence on Patton Avenue. The total value of the stolen items is $3,093.00. There are no suspects at this time.
On July 20, following a motor vehicle stop on Alexander Street, a Princeton man was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to PPD Headquarters where he was processed, charged accordingly and released.
