Theft By Deception, Vehicle Fire: Princeton Police Blotter
The Princeton police blotter dated March 18 had the following reports:

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:
PRINCETON, NJ - On March 11, a resident told police she received multiple text messages from an unknown phone number claiming that there were fraudulent transactions on her bank account. The woman responded to the text messages and shortly after, she received a phone call from an unknown individual purporting to be a bank representative. The woman was then instructed to wire money to three different account numbers, which she did, suffering a monetary loss of approximately $25,000.
On March 12, police patrols were alerted to a vehicle on fire in the area of Nassau Street. Patrols responded to the area and located an active vehicle fire in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Nassau Street. Patrols attempted to extinguish the fire, however, it continued to grow in size and intensity. The Princeton Fire Department responded and was able to extinguish the blaze. During that time, the area of Nassau Street, between Linden Lane and Chestnut Street, was closed off to vehicle traffic. The vehicle involved, a 2010 Ford Ranger, was heavily damaged by the fire and towed from the scene. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

On March 12, a woman reported that an unknown person(s) stole her wallet from inside of her purse while she visited an establishment on Nassau Street. The suspect(s) then attempted to make several fraudulent charges using the victim’s credit cards.
On March 14, a resident reported that earlier in the day, two packages were stolen from her front porch. The total monetary loss is estimated at $155.87. There are no suspects at this time.

On March 16, a resident reported that sometime between Oct. 05, 2024 and March 10, 2025 two bicycles were stolen from a bicycle storage area located on Albert Way. There are no suspects at this time.
On March 17, following a motor vehicle stop, it was determined that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license and the vehicle’s registration was suspended. The driver, a 45-year-old Franklin resident, was also found to have an active arrest warrant for $550 from the Montgomery Township Municipal Court. He was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. After processing, the man was turned over to the custody of the Montgomery Township Police Department after he was issued summonses for being an unlicensed driver, driving while suspended, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and not having liability insurance coverage on a MV.
