Richards has served as head of Planned Parenthood since 2006. Every year, through its nearly 800 health centers nationwide, the 95-year-old organization provides family planning and reproductive and sexual health care services to nearly three million people, and sex education to more than 1.1 million people.
The organization garnered national headlines earlier this year when the Susan G. Komen Foundation announced that it would stop funding breast cancer prevention, screenings and education at Planned Parenthood health centers.Â

The news caused a schism within the community among those who are both "pink ribbon" advocates for early detection and breast health, and those who strongly support the women's health initiatives of Planned Parenthood.
Komen later reversed its decision and reinstated funding.
Richards is visiting the Woodrow Wilson School as part of its “Leadership and Governance Program.Â
The event will be webcast live here and archived online for later viewing on the Woodrow Wilson School’s Webmedia site.
