Two Assaults, Thefts, Reported in Princeton

Police are investigating both incidents.

Two assaults were recently reported in Princeton- one in the 100 block of Witherspoon Street and one in the first block of Leigh Avenue. 

  • On Aug. 15 at 10:27 p.m., a victim reported an aggravated assault in the 100 block of Witherspoon Street. The victim told police he was involved in a fight with another person and during that fight, he was struck in the face with a beer bottle. He suffered a cut to his face above his left eye and was transported to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for treatment. The victim told police he didn't know his assailant and police were unable to locate the alleged perpetrator. 
  • On Aug. 17 at 11:14 p.m., three juvenile females reported that they were assaulted by someone in the first block of Leigh Avenue and that their phones and other items were then stolen. The victims said they struck up a conversation with a group of people and during that conversation, one of the people punched the victims while others in the group took items from their purses. A phone, an iPod, a camera and cash were stolen, totaling just over $1000. An investigation continues.
