Woman Assaulted on Witherspoon Street

Police say the victim had just left the Princeton University campus when she was tackled to the ground. She managed to break free and call for help.

 

A woman leaving the Princeton University campus was assaulted by an unknown assailant as she walked down Witherspoon Street early Friday morning, Princeton Police Captain Nick Sutter said. 

The alleged assault happened shortly after 4 a.m. near the intersection of Wiggins Street, police said.

The woman told police that she saw a Hispanic male in his 20s, 5'7" with short dark hair as she walked by Nassau Hall. As she crossed Nassau Street onto Witherspoon, she noticed the man following her.

She told police she heard someone running up to her from behind, then was tackled to the ground. She managed to break away and call for help as the man ran down Witherspoon Street.

The woman suffered minor injuries.
