Wayne, NJ – Girls on the Run NJ North received a $7,000 grant from the Chilton Medical Center Community Advisory Board, to support the Girls on the Run program in Wayne, Ringwood and Pompton Lakes. Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity-based youth developmental program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade. They teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. “We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from Atlantic Health System’s Chilton Medical Center and their Community Advisory Board," stated Girls on the Run NJ North's Executive Director, Maureen Dykstra. Their partnership will allow us to provide our life changing program to more girls within the Chilton area of service. Their belief in our mission reflects their dedication to the health and wellness of girls in our community.”

Chilton Medical Center Community Advisory Board, a group of individuals from throughout the communities served by the hospital, the hospital’s Community Health Advisory Committee and the Chilton Medical Center Community Health Department, working with the Atlantic Health System Planning Department, identified priority health needs within the community, using robust data analysis and a community stakeholder survey.

The Community Advisory Board awards grants to organizations who proposed initiatives that address one or more priority health needs.
