Ramsey Residents Displaced Following House Fire

The second floor was on fire when firefighters got there, police said.

RAMSEY, NJ — A borough house was severely damaged by a fire Wednesday morning, police said.

Police got a call from a School Street resident at 9:15 a.m. about smoke coming from the attic of their house, said Chief Bryan Gurney. The caller said there was an odor of something burning inside and smoke leaked through an eve on the outside of the house, he said.

By the time firefighters responded, the house's second floor was on fire, Gurney said. Firefighters used three tower trucks to pour water on the fire. No injuries were reported.
