Firefighters Battle Blaze At Ramsey House
'Heavy smoke' came from a Ramsey home where a fire broke out Monday, police said.
RAMSEY, NJ — Firefighters battled a fire at a Grove Street house, said Police Chief Bryan Gurney.
Gurney said "heavy smoke" came out of the private residence when firefighters and police were there. No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters, he said.
The fire started in the basement, Gurney said. The cause was being investigated.

Firefighters from Ramsey and Mahwah battled the blaze, the chief said.
Gurney was not sure exactly when authorities were alerted to the fire or when the first firefighters arrived at the house.
