The annual Senior "Picnic at the Pool" will be Wednesday, Sept. 11 beginning at 12 noon. All Ramsey seniors over the age of 60 are invited to attend. There will be grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, dessert and beverages provided by the Shop Rite of Ramsey. Seniors are encouraged to bring a chair for their comfort. The cost is $5 made payable to Ramsey Seniors. Anyone wishing to attend can sign up at Borough Hall.
The bus trip to the Storm King Arts Center in Windsor, NY on Wednesday, Sept. 25, will begin with an early lunch at Torches on the Hudson, followed by a walking tour around Museum Hill and a tram ride through the sculpture garden with its collection of more than 100 sculptures created by most acclaimed artists of our time. Those wishing to attend can sign up at Borough Hall. The cost is $55 payable to the Ramsey Seniors.
Seniors kick off the fall season celebrating OCTOBERFEST at the Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, N.Y. on Wednesday, Oct.16th. Eat, drink and be merry the old fashioned German way. There will be bocce, shuffleboard and horseshoes, music, dancing and entertainment. Lunch includes soup, salad, roasted chicken, pork roast, or sauerbraten. Also served family style is bratwurst, spare ribs, red cabbage, sauerkraut and apple sauce. Dessert is ice cream and a variety of beverages. There will also be an afternoon standing steamship roast from the carving table and pretzels served with your coffee, or tea. Beer, soda or apple cider will be served from noon until 5 p.m. Sign up is Wednesday, Sept. 18 beginning at 9 a.m. at Borough Hall. The cost of the trip is $65 made payable to Ramsey Seniors.
There will be an open house for TaiChi beginners Thursday, Sept. 12 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ramsey Senior Center. Classes are eight week sessions and will start Thursday, Sept. 19 at 2:30 p.m. Returning TaiChi students begin their 8 week session on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. Tai Chi Fan is at 2 p.m. on the same date. Classes are $10 for Tai Chi and $15 for Tai Chi and Fan. Sign up at Borough Hall.
Yoga is back. The eight week season begins on Friday, Sept. 13 at 9:50 a.m. Sign-up at the Borough Hall. The cost of the class is $10. Bring a mat and enjoy the benefits of gentle Integral Yoga.
The Zumba Gold dance-like exercise course will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 24 and run through Nov. 26. Stop by and see what the rage is all about. There will be no class on Oct. 24 and Nov. 5. Cost of the class is $10. Sign-up at Borough Hall.
The bocce boys need some new players. Get off the couch and join the fun Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Ramsey Pool at 10 a.m.
The Ping Pong Olympians will be participating in the N.J. Senior Olympics on Sept. 17 in Woodbridge. Claire Abbot, Snow Chu and Jae Yun will be participating in the events.
Looking for a Sunday pastime? Check out the movies each week at 1 p.m. in the Senior Center with Margaret and Filly. "Quartet" is showing on Sept. 15, "Main Street" is showing on Sept. 22, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is showing on Sept. 29.
The Ping Pong players meet every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Friday at 12 noon at the Senior Center.
