Prosecutor: Software Engineer Sexually Assaulted 3-to-5-Year-Olds

The 41-year-old was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say a Bergen County software engineer was arrested after they learned he allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with children as young as toddlers.

William Kooney, 41, of Teaneck, was arrested on March 7 after members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Teaneck Police Department learned he allegedly “engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with several male and female acquaintances ranging in age from 3-to-5-years-old,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

The victims’ parents learned of the inappropriate sexual activity and contacted the Teaneck Police Department, who then notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Arrangements were made for the victims to be interviewed by a Special Victims Unit detective at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, where the victims provided specific details regarding what had occurred with Kooney, Molinelli said.
