Ramsey High School Wind Ensemble

Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS Band Project

The Ramsey High School Wind Ensemble is honored to announce their involvement in a commissioned work by composer Nicole Piunno. This work entitled, "I will lament and love" was composed to honor those who lost their lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Friday, February 14, 2018, and to give strength to the survivors.

A consortium of 4 bands from New Jersey commissioned this work which will be premiered by the Ramsey High School Wind Ensemble on May 23, 2018, at 8:00pm during the spring concert.

The goal of this project is to have the ensembles in the consortium premier the piece locally leading up to the world finale debut by the marjory Stoneman Douglas Band at the Mid-West Band Clinic to be held in Chicago in December 2018. Each ensemble will record the piece, which will then be edited together as a video project indicating that when we show hope in the face of suffering, we are playing a part in defeating evil.
