Baby Squirrel Brothers Rescued in Red Bank
Someone found these 4-5-week-old squirrels after they fell out of their nest in Red Bank.

Red Bank, NJ - These little squirrel brothers are only four to five weeks old and they were brought to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital after falling out of the nest, the veterinary clinic said Tuesday. This can be a common occurrence especially after heavy winds or storms.
When a squirrel falls from the nest, the first step is to contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator to determine what needs to be done to help the babies. In some cases, the pups can be placed on heat support close to the base of the tree and monitored from afar. The parents will often rescue the young and carry them back up to the nest.
But if trauma is suspected, veterinary care may be needed. In the case of these little guys, they were dehydrated and had mild bleeding from the nose as a result of falling, the vets said. They were taken to the Red Bank Veterinary Hospital where they received fluids for the dehydration, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, heat support, and milk replacement feedings. They are now on their way to a wildlife rehabilitator who will continue to care for them until they are old enough to be released back into the wild.
