Barber Shop Fades in on Monmouth

A new barber shop opened in Red Bank this week bringing with it an expertise in the area of the fade-style haircut.

Called Red Bank House of Fades, the small shop is located at 8B Monmouth St., next to, presumably, what will some day be a sandwich shop. The barber shop offers a number of options, including regular cuts and shape ups, but uses fades as its calling card.

A fade haircut involves the use of clippers. The fade is achieved by using different closeness settings - like going from a two clipper to a three - to achieve a blended look and even allows for designs to be carved into your 'do, if that's your thing.

Mostly, the fade is championed for its tight and clean look.

On Thursday, we dropped in as Robinson Hernandez was giving a new client a fade in the early afternoon.
