Body Of Missing NJ Teen Recovered, Police Say

The body of Owen Tillman Kenney, 19, was recovered on Saturday after he went missing on Halloween, police said.

RED BANK, NJ — Authorities have located and recovered the body of Owen Tillman Kenney, a New Jersey teenager and Red Bank Catholic High School graduate who went missing in South Carolina on Halloween.

At 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Charleston Police Harbor Patrol units, with assistance from the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Charleston County Rescue, and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a report of a body in the water near Patriots Point.

According to police, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office has since confirmed the identity of the deceased as Kenney, 19.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the effort to get Owen back to his family,” Charleston Police Chief Chito Walker said. “We hope this recovery brings some measure of closure to a family experiencing unimaginable loss. We ask that everyone continue to respect the privacy of the Kenney family during this difficult time.”

Kenney was reported missing on Nov. 1. During the course of police investigation, detectives determined via surveillance video that he had died of suicide after walking on the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway at 3:49 a.m. on Halloween.
