
For the first time in several years, a Republican has unofficially won a seat on the longstanding all-Democratic Red Bank Borough Council.
Cindy Burnham was the top vote-getter of all four candidates for the two three-year seats that were up for grabs. An unofficial tally showed Burnham had garnered 1,292 votes, with Incumbent Kathleen Horgan at a very close second with 1,291.
Incumbent Sharon Lee lost her bid for a third term on council. And Burnham's running mate, newcomer Sean DiSomma lost his first bid.
