Couple Donates $5 Million To Riverview Medical Center In Red Bank

Joan and Robert Reichnitz say they are grateful for the care they received at the hospital.

RED BANK, NJ - The Riverview Medical Center Foundation recently received a thank you in the form of a generous $5 million donation from the founders of the Two River Theater Company.

Joan and Robert Rechnitz recently made the donation to support the advancement of the robotic surgery program at the medical center, according to a hospital release.

“Both Joan and I are incredibly thankful for the care we receive at Riverview Medical Center and that makes our giving extremely meaningful to us,” said Robert Rechnitz, who is also a trustee of Riverview Medical Center Foundation. “We do hope the larger community responds to our wish to bring more philanthropic support to the hospital, continuing to ensure it’s a place we can all rely on for the highest quality health care.”

The couple hope that their gift will spur others to raise an additional $5 million for the medical center this year.

The hospital's robotic surgery progam was introduced in 2013, thanks to the couple. Since then almost $1,000 patients have been treated with the state-of-the-art surgical equipment, which allows surgeons to make very small incisions like traditional laparoscopic surgery, but with improved visualization and range of motion.

That makes it easier to treat a variety of colorectal, general, gynecologic, and urologic conditions with minimally invasive techniques, according to the release.
