Free Bicycle Lights To Be Installed This Sunday In Red Bank

Monmouth Reform Temple, Red Bank Police Department offer free bicycle lights program on Sunday - all to improve rider safety.

RED BANK, NJ — Now that it's getting darker earlier, consider having your bicycle lights updated and installed - and at no cost.

A twice-yearly program offered by the Social Action Committee of Monmouth Reform Temple of Tinton Falls, in conjunction with the Red Bank Police Department, will again offer this service.

"We will be offering free lights to all bicycle owners. This event is open to everyone in the community," said Dean Ross, president of the synagogue.

The project started eight years ago, he said, and nearly 600 bikes have had lights installed.

"It's essential that when people ride that they're visible," he said.

He said bicycle owners don't have to be from Red Bank, but they must bring their bicycle. Volunteers will expertly install them, front and back.

The program takes place this Sunday, Nov. 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Red Bank Train Station (Go to the east side of the train station, between the station house and Monmouth Street.)
