Gaming, Gambling, Using Topics Of Program At Red Bank Regional HS

Addictive behaviors involve more than substance abuse. Learn about this and other "can't stop" practices at Red Bank Regional panel talk.

RED BANK, NJ — Several area organizations that help people understand their addictive behaviors are sponsoring a talk on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Red Bank Regional High School: "Let's Talk: Gaming, Gambling & Substance Abuse."

The program is hosted by the Ridge Road Alliance in partnership with The Source at Red Bank Regional High School and the Tigger Stavola Foundation. The program runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Red Bank Regional High School, 101 Ridge Road, Little Silver.

"We know people are struggling to put the phone down whether they are gaming, online betting or scrolling," said Suzanne Keller, Supervisor of The Source RBRHS.

"Let's Talk," she said will discuss what is happening in the community with those behaviors right now.

"The presentation will educate the community on gambling (with the Super Bowl right around the corner), online gaming and substance abuse," she said.

The conversation will be based on anonymous questions submitted be the community, she added.

The informal Q&A session is open to students, parents and caregivers in the local community, supported by a panel of experts, including:

"We want all community members to be educated so they can make informed decisions and responsible choices and know where to go to find help," Keller said.

Attendance is free and refreshments will be served. Students will receive 1.5 hours of community service for attending.
