How To Report Any Earthquake Damage In Red Bank

After Monmouth County was shaken by a 4.8 magnitude earthquake Friday, Red Bank said residents can call local police with concerns, not 911.

RED BANK, NJ — Red Bank announced that residents can contact local police - not 911 - to report any structural or infrastructure damage after a Friday morning 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook areas throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Residents can call the Red Bank Police Department at 732-530-2700, officials said in an alert.

Red Bank has activated its Local Emergency Operations Center, but advised not calling 911 unless you have an actual emergency.

At the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, it posted that all operations at its Communications Center are "running effectively."

The center did receive "an influx of calls" after the earthquake. And it did request that county residents only call 9-1-1 if experiencing an emergency.

The earthquake, initially reported as a 4.7 magnitude, was updated to 4.8 a short time after the initial reports by the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenter was in Lebanon, in the upper northwest corner or New Jersey.
