Kevin Smith’s Latest Pop-Up Will Take Over Red Bank Pizzeria
For one week, Gianni's in Red Bank will transform into Mooby's, a fictional burger joint from Smith's cinematic universe.

RED BANK, NJ – Filmmaker and New Jersey native Kevin Smith will be giving one local pizzeria a Mooby's makeover later this month.
From Sept. 18 through 25, Gianni’s Pizzeria will transform into Mooby’s, a fictional burger joint straight out of the Red Bank director’s filmography.
Smith, who announced the pop-up’s arrival via Instagram on Aug. 1, also mentioned that he will be present for the shop’s reopening and will be “in and out” of the restaurant all weekend.

“For one week, Gianni’s are turning their exquisite pizzeria into the fake fast food joint most recently seen in @jayandsilentbob Reboot,” Smith wrote on Tuesday. “Enormous thanks to the Gianni’s team, who reached out to us about making Mooby’s in Red Bank a reality.”
According to Smith, Jason ‘Jay’ Mewes, who starred in Smith’s “Dogma”, “Clerks” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” used to deliver pizza for Gianni’s.

View this post on InstagramThe @moobyspopup moooves into @giannispizzeria in Red Bank, New Jersey from SEPTEMBER 18th to the 25th. For one week, the fun folks at Gianni’s are turning their exquisite pizzeria into the fake fast food joint most recently seen in @jayandsilentbob Reboot! And because the pop-up only has a one week window, folks will need to make reservations to get inside (like they did in our L.A. location). All the food and fun goes on sale 11am TOMORROW at the #moobyspopup website (link in my bio above). Enormous thanks to the Gianni’s team, who reached out to us about making Mooby’s in Red Bank a reality. They told Mooby’s mastermind @heyitsderekberry that hosting the fake fast foodery from #jayandsilentbobstrikeback and #clerks2 is something of a full-circle affair for them because, back in the day, @jaymewes used to deliver pizza for Gianni’s! Jay can’t make the trip but I’ll be at Mooby’s on opening day, as well as in and out of the pop-up all weekend! And @jayandsilentbobstash will be running a satellite store at the Gianni’s Mooby’s, stocked with all new Mooby’s merch! We’re also trying to set up some sort of drive-in movie event for that same week, so join the mailing list at Mooby’s Pop Up .com for more info! Never thought I’d see an actual Mooby’s in the town I was born! I hope this will be as udderly delightful for everyone else as it is for me! Make your reservation Tomorrow at 11am! #KevinSmith #moobys #redbanknj #redbank #newjersey #jayandsilentbob #jayandsilentbobreboot #food #popup #popuprestaurant

In addition to an onsite merch stand from Secret Stash, the fictional restaurant will also be partnering with local Red Bank vendors to ensure the full Mooby's experience. Red Tank Brewery serves as one area partner offering a signature Mooby's brew. More vendors will be announced shortly, according to a news release.
The pop-up restaurant, available for both carryout and patio dining, will also feature several photo opportunities for fans to explore the fictional world of Jay and Silent Bob while they wait for their food.
Reservations will be required due to the pop-up’s short stay in town. Each e-ticket will include one main dish (guests can choose from the Cow Tipper, Beyond Burger Cow Tipper, Cock Smoker Chicago Sandwich, or Messy Vegan Lasagna Sandwich) and one side (Hater Totz, Onion Rings to Rule Them All).
Ticket sales begin Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. at www.moobyspopup.com.
