Photo a Day: Black and White

Each day of the month we’re bringing you our submission of a themed Photo a Day challenge. Today, Oct. 16, the theme is Black and White.

Black and white. Today's theme is about taking the rich color of life and portraying it instead with depth and shadow. What better way to demonstrate black and white than by taking a picture of a colorful arraignment of produce and turning it into monochrome? 

Show us your interpretation of black and white. Maybe you've got a great photo begging for the monochrome treatment, or maybe a black and white polka dot dress you've got in the closet. Maybe you've even got a cookie that will satisfy the theme's requirements. Show us, whatever it is. Upload it here, Tweet us, or email us.

With the advent of media sharing applications like Instagram and the rapid rise in photo sharing across the internet through forums like Facebook, Reddit and even Patch, there have been movements to engender creativity in the digital photography community.

One such movement that has become popular is the now-ubiquitous Photo A Day challenge. While many sites across the internet offer their own interpretations and challenge lists, the goal is always the same, to capture a digital image each day that represents that day’s specific theme.
