RED BANK, NJ — Porchfest is back for a second year in Red Bank with performances for every musical taste, including a section of the New Jersey Symphony.

Staged on porches, driveways and gazebos throughout the borough, the event runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1. If needed, there is a rain date of Sunday, Oct 8.

There are nearly 100 bands performing, and the Porchfest website has a list of times and locations, as well as an interactive map you can find as you scroll down its homepage.

Porchfest is free to attend, but donations are welcome and will support HABcore, a local nonprofit organization that helps find housing for veterans, families with children, and individuals with special needs who have experienced homelessness. HABcore is a nonprofit that provides affordable, supportive housing in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Follow Porchfest on Facebook for all the latest information on the event, including a map of locations. There is an EZRide Bike Lane set up with the help of the Environmental Commission Green Team and Red Bank police, the site notes.

"We are beyond excited to have for the first time a section of the New Jersey Symphony," the Porchfest site announced, playing at noon at 47 Irving Place.

Red Bank mayor and musician Billy Portman and Marta Quinn of HABcore are among the organizers of the event, the site notes.

Porchfest noted on its website that the original Porchfest started in Ithaca, N.Y., in 2007 with 20 different musicians. Now there are dozens of Porchfests that take place all over the U.S. and Canada.

Porchfest is presented this year by the Count Basie Center for the Arts, and is also supported by downtown merchants such as the Artisan Collective, Elli’s Backyard and the Dublin House, among others, Red Bank RiverCenter notes.
