Red Bank Catholic's Choir Wins Radio Promotion

The Casey choir won cash and a new piano after being voted best in the state as part of New Jersey 101.5's Christmas choir promotion.

Red Bank Catholic High School’s choir was presented with a $1,000 check and a new Hallet Davis and Company school piano Monday after winning the grand prize in a local radio Christmas Choir Contest in December.

New Jersey 101.5 presented Choir Director Shawn Mack with the check in a presentation at the school. The entire school choir was also on hand for the award presentation and blessing of the new piano.

The contest was organized by 101.5, a Millennium Radio station, and sponsored by a number of organizations, including Worldwide Piano and Music School, Gene and Shelley Enlow Recital Hall at Kean University, PODS, Fords Jewelers and the men and women of the State Trooper Fraternal Association.

Schools throughout the state we invited to send in their choir’s recordings to the station through November. After a panel of judges narrowed the field down to 15, each of the finalists was played after the noon news report each day during December. Listeners had the chance to vote on the station’s website to decide the best choir in the state and the Caseys emerged victorious.

“NJ 101.5 enjoyed allowing Garden State listeners to hear all these talented school choirs and we were thrilled to award the winners with cash that will help fund their choir programs,” Program Director Eric Johnson said.
