Red Bank Resident, Wayne Sluscavage, Dies at 66

Services begin on Tuesday.


Red Bank resident Wayne T. Sluscavage passed away peacefully on Oct. 17 at 66.

Born in Passaic in 1946, Wayne's childhood years were spent in Belleville. He was a highly decorated Vietnam combat veteran who proudly served his country.

He was a beloved husband to Virginia Travers Sluscavage, who he leaves behind, and worked at Franklin Templeton Fiduciary Trust in New York City, retiring in 2011. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing and gardening.

Wayne is survived by: his son, Mark, of West Milford; his brother Michael Sluscavage; and his loving nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Helen Sluscavage.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the VA New Jersey Health Care System Campuses in East Orange and Lyons. Their dedication to provide care over the last 10 months was a blessing to the entire family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at De La Salle Hall, 810 Newman Springs Rd., Lincroft. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
